Commissioners Support Kaycee Flood Prevention Application

Johnson County's Commissioners have approved sending a letter of support for the Powder River Conservation District in their application for funding to the Federal government for a flood prevention project in Kaycee.

Anita Bartlett, District Manager for the conservation district, explained more about the project at the last commissioners' meeting.

An easement on county lands will also be needed through Harold Jarrard Park to construct the dikes and flood walls to protect the county-owned park.

Bartlett said the cost of the project when they originally applied in 2008 was right at $1 million, but with cost increases over the last 10 years, they will be seeking $1.5 million for the project with the current application.
