After the announcement this week that the Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee voted to recommend Buffalo as the site for a proposed veterans skilled nursing facility, Johnson County Commissioner Bill Novotny said he was happy with the decision, and that it will bring good things to Buffalo if it is ultimately located here.

Novotny explained that there is still a long way to go before this is a done deal, saying the bill needs to go through the various committees in the legislature, and ultimately end up on the governor's desk, but he is optimistic that Buffalo will remain the state's choice.

Novotny said the possible location of the veterans skilled nursing facility in Buffalo would be a great win for the city, and representatives from Johnson County won't be resting on their laurels, but having conversations with those at the state level to get the bill through the legislature with Buffalo as the designated location.
