Columbus Day Today

Posted in

Today is Columbus Day and for some, it means a three-day weekend. Declared a federal holiday in 1937, it is observed on the second Monday in October and is a celebration of Christopher Columbus's arrival to North America on October 12th, 1492.

Remember the ditty, “In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue,” how many of us really remember when Columbus sailed?

Wyatt Ankney came pretty close.

Elana Ostler was a wee bit off.

Lori Tallis came close.

Now, who can name his three ships?
