College Nursing Assistant Course Starts This Month

The next certified nursing assistant course at Sheridan College will start on Aug. 27.

The course runs through Oct. 19 and consists of six to seven weeks of online learning followed by a week of in-person labs, tests and on-site clinicals in Sheridan. The course prepares students for entry-level employment in the health care field.

According to a news release from the college, students will attain the skills and knowledge they need to take the certification exams administered by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing for CNAs.

Sheridan College's accredited CNA course prepares students for employment at hospitals, long-term care facilities and home-care services. College officials estimate there are 250 CNAs employed throughout Sheridan and Johnson counties.

CNA instructor Amy Wyatt said the Sheridan College course in addition to giving students the knowledge they need for a lifelong career as CNAs but can also be a stepping stone for students interested in pursuing other careers in healthcare.
