College Group Needs Backpacks for Suicide Awareness

Sheridan College has an activist organization with the goal of removing the stigma surrounding seeking help for mental health issues. The group, called Active Minds, is a counterpart to a national initiative, and this fall's area of focus is suicide prevention.

Rachel Kristiansen, Active Minds club advisor, explains more.

The group is asking the community to donate used, unneeded backpacks to be used in the display. After their role in the exhibit on the 12th, the packs will be recycled again.

You can find drop boxes for used backpacks at Foot of the Bighorns, Warehouse Market, and the Sheridan College library.
