Climbing Accident Victim Recovered, Identified

The body of the victim of a climbing accident earlier this week in the Bighorn Mountains has been recovered and identified.

In a release from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and the County Coroner's Office, it was announced that the victim of a climbing accident on Blacktooth Mountain this week was identified as James Shassetz, 58, of Sheridan.

According to the release, Johnson County Search and Rescue, along with Tip Top Search and Rescue out of Sublette County, conducted a safe recovery of the victim the morning of July 13th.

The release also stated that “we express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Shassetz, and our sincere appreciation to all of the search and rescue personnel who participated in this mission."
