City Building Inspector Toby Rhoades brought a problem with what appears to be an abandoned property to the attention of the city council at their last meeting.

Rhoades said he has received complaints on two properties located at 130 and 140 Balsom Street that are owned by the same individual, who does not reside at either property. There are abandoned vehicles full of trash, trash and other material scattered throughout the properties, and weeds and grass nearly five feet high.

Neither of the homes is habitable, Rhoades said, due to water line breaks inside the homes. The issues have been ongoing and the neighbors want something done.

He explaines what city ordinance allows him to do.

The Council approved Rhoades to proceed through proper channels and get the property cleaned up.
