City Eyeing Orthophotography Project

The City of Sheridan will soon be considering a vendor for the an aerial orthophotography project. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.


The City of Sheridan utilizes Geographic Information Systems, or GIS maps and data for a variety of operational and planning purposes. The City is continually adding data layers to its system and enhancing the utilization by internal and external customers. One important layer in the GIS software is aerial imagery, also known as orthophotography. The City will soon be awarding the bid for a project to capture the most recent data from the friendly skies above. City Community Development Director Brian Craig.

Craig said that he’s recommending that the City Council approve the proposal from Aero-Graphics, Inc., in the amount of $45,215. The Board of Trustees for SAWS has agreed to pay $10,000 of the cost of the project.
