City Council Approves Street Closure For Oktoberfest

The Buffalo City Council approved a request from the Chamber of Commerce to close a portion of Main Street downtown for their Oktoberfest celebration coming up on Saturday, September 22nd.

Rachel McCaughey, with the Chamber, explained to the council what their plans were for the festival.

McCaughey said no downtown businesses have objected to the street closure and are supportive of the celebration.

There will be gates at either end of Main Street at Angus and Fetterman where all persons must show identification and be given wristbands to designate whether they are over or under 21.

The festival itself will feature local brewers' beers in competition with each other for cash and other prizes, sampling of other brews, the Tour De Lure, Bicycle Poker Run, live music, food and other vendors.

For more information on this year's Oktoberfest, contact the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce.
