The City of Sheridan in conjunction with the Downtown Sheridan Association are moving forward with an application for a community enhancement grant through the Wyoming Business Council. The grant application is for $214,000 and would allow for the renovation of the old Maverick Building at 121 South Main Street in Sheridan. DSA would move their offices into the building and the City would lease the building to them for a dollar a year.

City Councilman Steve Brantz says that the South Downtown Gateway Project will benefit not only the City and DSA, but the community as a whole.

The renovation of the 2,300 square foot building would include office space for DSA, 24-hour public restrooms, a kiosk, public meeting space, and a storage area. Other proposed improvements include the addition of solar paneling to the building along with various landscaping enhancements.

The grant application must be submitted by December 1, 2010 to the Wyoming Business Council. The State Land and Investment Board will not make a decision on the funding until sometime in April of 2011.
