Due to a number of requests from businesses in Downtown Sheridan, City of Sheridan staff developed a Sidewalk User Agreement that was adopted by the Council Monday night.

City Engineer Lane Thompson explains that upon entering a two-year agreement with the City, business owners will be able to set up tables adjacent to their business if they meet the criteria of the Sidewalk Use Agreement.

Thompson says that the process will be similar to how the City issues building permits to developers.

The agreement states that there needs to be no less than five feet of unobstructed sidewalk for foot traffic, and that the City at any time can terminate the contract if it has any public health or safety concern arise from how the business owner uses the sidewalk premises adjacent to their property.
