The City of Sheridan is considering implementing an ordinance that would establish regulations on wireless communication facilities. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the story.

City of Sheridan staff have been working with a consultant since last October to develop the Wireless Communications Facilities ordinance. City Community Development Director Brian Craig described the City’s current process of handling any issues pertaining to wireless communications.

Bob Duchen, Vice President and Co-Founder of River Oaks Communications, is the consultant that’s been crafting the ordinance. He said that the regulations will allow the City to benefit from some of the new technology in wireless communications, and that it will also protect the City’s aesthetics from obtrusive cell towers and antennas that are designed to boost cellular signals. The Sheridan City Council is expected to consider the ordinance on first reading at their March 5th meeting.
