City Attorney 'Confident' City Will Get Easements Soon

Buffalo City Council
Buffalo City Council

Buffalo City Attorney Ben Kirven reported to the city council recently that he is “confident” the city will finally have the easements needed for the South Tank Water Pipeline project that has been in the planning and development stages for a number of years.

During the council's most recent meeting, Kirven said nothing has been happening on acquiring the easements for quite some time, but he has been assured by the engineer on the project that by the time he files his taxes on April 15th, he will have the final three easements signed and in-hand, which will mean the city now has all of the required easements and will be able to move forward with the project.

The city will replace transmission main line between the existing south storage tank and the high school. The existing transmission main is asbestos cement, is approximately 30 years old and has become unreliable with multiple line breaks in recent years. A new pipeline will provide reliable water delivery and the necessary fire flows to the residents on the south end of the city.
