Change of Plea in District Court

A change of plea hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 29-year-old Harrison Demontiney of Wyola, Montana.

Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Demontiney pleaded guilty to the charges of felony shoplifting and misdemeanor shoplifting. A third charge of felony conspiracy to commit the crime of shoplifting was dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Demontiney and two of his brothers who are co-defendants in the case, were charged in May of this year for stealing over $1,800 worth of items from Wal-Mart in Sheridan and a bottle of alcohol from Rendezvous Liquor. The plea deal calls for a sentence of 2 to 4 years for the felony charge, suspended, in lieu of two years of supervised probation, and 90 days in jail for the misdemeanor charge, suspended in lieu of 6 months of probation. District Court Judge John Fenn ordered a presentence investigation and set a sentencing date for November 26 at 10:30 am.
