Josh Law received the Business Person of the Year award, and Stella Montano was given the Spirit of Sheridan Award during the 2017 Awards of Excellence presentations at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday.

Six awards were presented during the luncheon. Other recipients included Compass Center for Families, wich received the Key Service Award; and Sheridan Physical Therapy, recipient of the Strength of Sheridan Award. Also receiving awards were Luminous Brewhouse, recognized as the Small Business of the year, and First Interstate Bank, which received the Large Business Award. Small businesses are those with fewer than 20 full-time employees, and large businesses are those employing 20 or more.

Chamber President Travis Evans said businesses, organizations and individuals are nominated for the various award categories by a task force comprised of Chamber members, individuals from the community and Chamber staff.

The task force recommends nominees to the Chamber board of directors, then the nominees are voted on by the Chamber membership.

Evans said the purpose of the awards luncheon wasn't only to honor the winners in each category but to honor and recognize all the nominees for the outstanding work they do in and for the Chamber.

Law is founder and director of strategy of Flood Marketing in Sheridan, and Montano is director of family caregiver services at The Hub on Smith.

The Strength of Sheridan Award is presented to a Chamber member business or organization that has been in the community for more than 20 years.
