Celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Through Proper Screening

Posted in

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Wyoming Department of Health is encouraging state residents to take the time to learn about breast cancer and important, recommended screenings. Being the second-leading cause of cancer death among women, breast cancer is a crucial anomaly to keep an eye on. According to Kim Deti, Public Information Officer for the Wyoming Department of Health, early detection is incredibly significant.

Wyoming women who do not have insurance coverage, but who need breast cancer screenings, may contact the Wyoming Cancer Program. The WCP reimburses participating healthcare providers for screening services using state and federal funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While self-examinations are encouraged, Deti warns that they are not sufficient substitutes for professional screenings.
