Candidates Turn Out as Filing Starts for August Primaries

Filing for this year's elections appear to be off to a good start, according to County Clerk Eda Schunk Thompson.

Candidates have through June 1 to file for federal, state, county and municipal offices that will be up for election in the Aug. 21 primary elections.

Candidates can also file for offices as precinct committee people. Thompson said candidates for those offices can file at no cost.

There is a $25 fee to file for municipal and county offices, and fees are higher for those who seek state or federal offices.
