Candidates Set For Johnson County Positions

Now that the Wyoming State Canvassing Board has certified the primary election results and they are now official, candidates for Johnson County positions will now concentrate on the general election in November.

Johnson County Clerk Vicki Edelman spoke with Sheridan Media late last week and explained which candidates for which offices will move on and face whom.

Two seats are available on the Johnson County Commission and incumbents Bill Novotny and Linda Greenough will both be on the November ballot, as will incumbent Buffalo City Councilmen Dan Hart and Wes Haskins for the two seats available on the council.
For Mayor of the City of Buffalo, former Mayor Randy Dyess and Shane Shrader will move on to the general election against each other.

County Coroner Dave Harness; County Attorney Tucker Ruby; Clerk Vicki Edelmen; Treasurer Carla Faircloth; and Clerk of District Court candidate Paige Rhoads will also move on with no opposition on the ballot.

County Assessor Cindy Barlow will face off against Independent candidate Debra Robinson, and Republican Richard Tass will face off against Independent Chris Shock for State Representative for House District 40.

It is possible for write-in candidates to win an election against those on the ballot, but it would take a focused, grass-roots effort for those candidates to receive more votes than those listed on the ballot, and there are filing requirements that are necessary for write-in votes to to be counted.
