California Woman Dead, Two Others Injured, in Crash Near Cheyenne

A 79 year-old California woman died Sunday morning after a wreck that left two others injured, just one mile east of Cheyenne on WYO 212 at the traffic signals of the Sun Valley I-80 Interchange.

Jeanette R. Mullis, of Ridgecrest, Calif., was the lone passenger in a station wagon driven by her husband, Earl. He was headed southbound on WYO 212, just before the interchange, and he attempted to make a left turn onto the ramp - but did so in the path of another vehicle. Jeanette died after sustaining injuries when their station wagon was struck on the passenger side by a Cadillac.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 76 year-old Sequim man, was treated and released from the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Earl was injured in the accident as well, but was ultimately cited for failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. According to information released by the Wyoming Highway Patrol, all involved in the wreck were wearing their seatbelts.
