Twelve photographers were presented $100 each for their winning photographs in Sheridan County Museum's Calendar Photo contest at a reception at Photo Imaging Center on November 23rd.

With a theme this year of “Your Backyard and Beyond,” Mary Ellen McWilliams with the Sheridan County Historical Society tells us that the contribution to the contest was phenomenal.

With that many entries, they could have picked a photo for every day of 2011. But, for now anyway, the photos will represent an entire month. Mary Ellen describes how the winning photographs rose to the top of the voters' tally marks.

All proceeds from the contest, sponsored by Photo Imaging Center and Sheridan Media, with additional funding from eleven businesses and Sheridan College, will benefit the Sheridan County Museum.

Four different versions and sizes, including a small desk calendar, are available for sale at Photo Imaging and at the Sheridan County Museum, which will be open this year from 1 pm to 5 pm through December 23rd, and from 1 pm to 3 pm on December 24th.

2011 Contest Winners: Emmy Hill, Robert Williams, Marie Vaccaro, Stacey Jo Ellenwood, Gina Kelty, Stan Woinoski, Tim Doolin, Diana Volk, Russ Hirchert, Susanne Hinz, Lori Legoski, and David Paavilainen.  They will also receive a 16x20" framed print as will sponsoring businesses to hang at their stores.

Business sponsors are Captain Clean; Carroll's Furniture; ERA-Carroll Realty; Farmer's Co-Op; First Federal Savings Bank; Killy's Smokehouse Deli and Warehouse Market; Kings Saddlery, Ropes and Museum; Metz Beverage; Parker Glass; Sheridan College; Sheridan Rib and Chop House; and Tracy's Framing and Dean States Studio.
