Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair talked to a local celebrity during last week's Christmas Stroll. Here's the story.

Miss Wyoming, Cheyenne Buyert of Sheridan, said she's been having an amazing year.

As Sheridan Media reported earlier, Buyert was at a store downtown during last Friday's Christmas Stroll, and I had a chance to visit with her for a few minutes.

A Sheridan native, Buyert was crowned Miss Wyoming in June at Sheridan's WYO Theater and will wear the crown until June 2018 when a new Miss Wyoming is chosen. She said her travels after the first of the year will take her all around the state.

Buyert's platform, which she calls Winning With One, deals with Type 1 diabetes. Buyert said she herself has Type 1 diabetes, and her goal is to spread awareness and advocacy for the disease.

Buyert said she works a lot with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and she's an advocate for the American Heart Association.
