The trial started yesterday for a Sheridan County man accused of burglarizing a Dayton business. Last October the Crazy Woman Saloon was broken into and over $3,000 was stolen. 38-year-old Stanley Budder was arrested for the crime less than a week later.

Budder’s girlfriend, Dawn Speaks, was a former employee of the bar and would have known where the money was kept.

Yesterday, former Dayton resident Tony Fox testified that he took a bag of money from the defendant after Budder got drunk and passed out at Fox’s apartment. Fox returned the money to the Crazy Woman Saloon the next day. The bag contained far less than the total amount missing from the bar.

The prosecution will continue its case today. The trial is expected to be in the hands of the jury by the end of the day tomorrow.

Budder is facing 10 years in prison or a $10,000 fine or both if he is convicted of the burglary charge.
