Bullfrog Invasion Confirmed in Local Waters

A year ago, an American bullfrog was confirmed at Kleenburn Ponds north of Sheridan. That is a concern for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department as this particular species is made up of large, aggressive predators that are not native to Wyoming. Game and Fish Sheridan Region Public Information Specialist Tina Schmidt shared the difference in the sound an american bullfrog makes as opposed to our local amphibious creatures.

Schmidt said that the bullfrogs are native to the eastern U.S. and they are intentionally or accidentally introduced into new areas. In some cases, they create lasting impacts on the native amphibians and local ecosystems. If you think you may have come into contact with one of these creatures, make sure to notify your local Game and Fish office with the details.
