Buffalo Building Inspector Toby Rhoades, in his recent report to the city council, told them he and City Attorney Ben Kirven were working on changes to the setbacks in city code, and explained why he felt the change is needed.

Rhoades also reported that he is drafting a resolution for the city to adopt the 2018 International Building Codes (IBC), which he will have for the council's consideration at their next meeting February 20th.

According to the International Code Council's website, “the IBC is the foundation of the complete Family of International Codes.
It is a tool to preserve public health and safety that provides safeguards from hazards associated with the built environment.
It addresses design and installation of innovative materials that meet or exceed public health and safety goals.”
