Buffalo has a new police officer, now that patrolman James Kozisek has been sworn into his new position.

At the Tuesday city council meeting, Kozisek was sworn in by Municipal Judge Mary Hupy.

Kozisek was raised in Buffalo and is the son of Johnson County Sheriff Steve Kozisek and Elaine Kozisek.

Acting Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder said Kozisek had been wanting to return to Buffalo for some time, and jumped when the opportuity presented itself.

Kozisek returns to Buffalo with seven years' experience as a police officer in Cody, and Carder said he will be an asset to the community.

Carder said Kozisek's position will be as a patrolman. He explains what his duties will be.

FTO, according to Carder, is short for Field Training Officer, and Kozisek will be in training for a time before he is assigned to his own watch.
