The City of Buffalo's annual Citywide Spring Cleanup starts today and ends Saturday, May 12th.

The cleanup began a few years ago with the idea of allowing everyone living inside the city limits the opportunity to clean up their yards and property, with the city paying the cost at the landfill, according to City Building Inspector Toby Rhoades.

He tells us what types of items can be taken to the landfill this weekend.

Items that won't be accepted include tires, paint, lead/acid batteries, pesticides, fertilizers, automoblies and shingles, but the city will again pay the $25 fee for recaptured refrigerants from refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners during the cleanup, he said.

All that is needed is for residents to stop by City Hall to sign up and receive a voucher which allows them to make trips to the landfill.
