Buffalo's Art Chalk Festival Adds 'Longmire Day' To Itinerary

Coming up next month, Buffalo's Art Chalk Festival will add “Longmire Day” to it's list of events that weekend.

Saturday, July 21st has already been set aside for the second annual Art Chalk Festival downtown. A number of fun events are scheduled throughout the day, but now with the addition of Longmire Day, there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

“Longmire” is the new TV show based on the novels written by local author Craig Johnson about a Wyoming Sheriff and his experiences in a fictional town called Durant, Wyoming in fictional Absoraka County. The characters and places in the books are based on those in Norhteast Wyoming.

Rachel McCaughey, with the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, explains what Longmire Day is and how the idea came about.

In addition to the book signing, some events being discussed include “Longmire Specials” at the Busy Bee, an artist who will do a Craig Johnson or Walt Longmire portrait in chalk or possibly of a Longmire book cover. There is also talk of a Mayor's Proclamation of Johnson as “Sheriff of the Day in Buffalo.”

Although the day has been announced, there are still plenty of specifics that need to be worked out in the next month, according to McCaughey.
