The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce's annual Monster March, a safe event for kids in costume to trick-or-treat area businesses will be happening Thursday, October 29th, not on Saturday, which is Halloween.

Angela Fox, Executive Director of the Buffalo Chamber, explained to the Buffalo City Council at their last meeting why they decided to have the Monster March on Thursday, and not on Halloween itself.

The marchers should begin lining up on North Adams Avenue between the Bomber Mountain Civic Center and the Jim Gatchell Museum before 4 o'clock, with the route continuing through the historic courthouse, south along the west side of Main Street to Angus Street, then across Main Street and back up the east side of Main Street to end at the Chamber of Commerce.

Main Street will be closed from Fort Street to Angus from 4 to 6pm to accommodate the Monster March.

Local business people and adults of all ages enjoy the fun as well as the kids, and they come out in full force not only to hand out goodies but to dress up and be a part of the fun.

This year will continue a new tradition during the Monster March, a flash mob on Main Street downtown will be performed at some point during the 2-hour march.

Traditionally there are anywhere from 800 to 900 kids in the Monster March, as well as parents and grandparents, so it is a major event for Buffalo.
