Buffalo's Brock St. Project Nears Bid Opening

The Brock Street/Safe Routes to School Sidewalk Project is one step closer to beginning after the engineering firm in charge of the project held a pre-bid conference on Thursday to explain to the prospective contractors what was expected during construction of the project.

Five contractors were present for the conference and heard the presentation by Jeff Feck with Vista West Engineering of Sheridan.

He explained the project overall and the expectations that will be placed on the winning bidder, the timeline for the project, local, state and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to the project, and other pertinent information regarding the overall sidewalk project.

Feck explains why the conference was called.

The project is designed to funnel school kids walking to and from the various schools in a safe manner. Funding for the project came from both the state and Federal Governments.

Feck explains what's next for the project.

After the bid openings June 22nd, the awarding of the contract is expected at the July 5th City Council meeting.

Notice to Proceed will likely be issued on or before July 25th, according to Feck, and substantial completion is expected within forty calendar days after the Notice to Proceed, and final completion within seven days of substantial completion.
