Buffalo School District To Drop Student Accident Insurance

Buffalo School District To Drop Student Accident Insurance

At their Meeting Monday night in Kaycee, the Johnson County School Board chose to discontinue paying accident insurance for students participating in sports and other activities, effective with the 2014-2015 school year.

District Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler said the district has for a number of years paid to have the students covered under their own policy but costs have risen to the point where they need to consider not providing the insurance.

The district will provide information in the activities sign-up packets that are handed out to students with information on where parents can get the accident insurance for their kids if they so choose.

The school board voted unanimously to discontinue paying for the students' accident insurance beginning next school year.
