Buffalo RC Club Gets Nod For Use Of City-Owned Airstrip

The Buffalo City Council approved a local radio-controlled modeler's organization to use an existing city-owned model plane airstrip for their club's use.

Ty Zimmershied and Spencer Leonard, both members of the Buffalo RC Club, made the request of the council, saying the club and its members would be the only ones using the site, they would carry liability insurance for and would maintain the facility, which is located near the wastewater treatment plant east of Buffalo.

The Buffalo RC Club will have fire suppression gear at the facility in case of an incident and will take precautions to make the events safe for all who attend, they said.
They currently have 21 members, and the club will host other clubs and members from other communities as well as events throughout the year.

The council approved them to use the facility.
