Buffalo Rancher Makes Final Round of Treasurer Selection Process

Buffalo Rancher Makes Final Round of Treasurer Selection Process

The Republican Party's Central Committee in Wyoming has isolated three state treasurer candidates for final review by Governor Matt Mead, and one of the last-standing candidates hails from Johnson County.

Mark Gordon has been holding down his family's ranch operations near Buffalo, which includes the Merlin Ranch and several others. Gordon said he was saddened to hear of the passing of the state's former treasurer, Joe Meyer.

Gordon's previous experience includes time as a board member at the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City as well as Main Street businesses in both Sheridan and Buffalo. Gordon's resume was considered by the central committee before he was called in for an extensive interview process.

The other two finalists were Bruce Brown and Clark Stith. All three candidates will have a final interview with Governor Mead. The final decision is expected by Friday.
