Buffalo Police Vehicle Damaged In Accident

The Buffalo City Council was given the latest Police Chief's Report at their meeting this week.

Lieutenant Andy Tkach, standing in for Chief Jason Carder, said an accident occurred with a police vehicle driven by Officer Farris.

The Johnson County Sheriff's office investigated the accident and the driver of the other vehicle was given a citation for failure to yield.

Tkach also requested the council accept the 2013-14 Highway Safety Grant in the amount of $18,475 which will be used for DUI enforcement, speed enforcement, media funds and assist with $2,000 towards purchasing a new radar unit.
The council voted to accept the Highway Safety Grant.

Additional staff will be on hand this weekend, Tkach said, to assist with Oktoberfest and the associated events throughout the day.

And, the BPD will be providing traffic control for the Homecoming Parade on September 30th.
