April was named “Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month” in the City of Buffalo by Mayor Mike Johnson at the last regular city council meeting.

Mayor Johnson said in the proclamation that Wyoming has approximately 137,000 children that depend on the rest of us for protection and to help them grow into the healthy, happy productive people they are meant to be.

But exposing children to child abuse, neglect, indifference and violence can devastate a child's development, and it is important for everyone in the community to get involved to help stop the problem.

Mayor Johnson concluded by saying prevention of child abuse means stopping it before it starts.
