Buffalo Mayor Shane Schrader will be working through his first budget sessions with the city council that will begin next week.

The mayor said the city's financial outlook is good, and he has a positive mindset, although he is new to the process.

He expects the budget sessions will be a steep learning curve for himself, but he is happy he has experienced people around him to help with the budget process.

The city council and the mayor will be looking at about the same amount for this year's budget as last year's budget, roughly $11 million to $11.5 million overall.

The city will need to get creative, he said, and he explained further.

The city's budget sessions will begin next Thursday, April 4th and will continue multiple times per week through June.

The city must have their budget completed before the end of the fiscal year on June 30th.
