Buffalo Mayor: Detention Pond Project On Schedule

Buffalo's detention pond project is well underway and on schedule for completion at the end of May or early June, according to Mayor Shane Schrader.

Schrader, who visited the construction site late last week, explained the scope of the project and where it now sits.

The city awarded the contract for the roughly $400,000 project to Barnum Construction in February.

The project is for flood control, in response to flash flooding that occurred a few years ago after heavy rains during a large thunderstorm resulted in flood damage to homes and businesses in the northern parts of the city.
The reservoir will capture the runoff from those storms to prevent flood damage in the future.
