Buffalo Looking To Clean Ditch Of A/C Units

At their last meeting, the Buffalo City Council learned from City Attorney Ben Kirven that he has been in contact with the owner of the Econolodge on East Hart Street and discussed removal of air conditioning units that have been dumped in the city-owned ditch and adjacent property behind the motel.

The current owners are prepared to help with the cleanup, Kirven said, but don't feel responsible to bear the entire burden of cleanup as the previous owners are responsible for the dumping of the units.

Kirven explained further.

Kirven said Powder River Heating and Air Conditioning would help the city with refrigerant collection from the units and that Johnson County Solid Waste and/or Recycling Center would also help the city with disposal of the units themselves, with costs to be determined.

Kirven will have a proposal to the council for cleanup and disposal of the units at a future council meeting.
