Buffalo Development Association: What next?

Buffalo Development Association: What next?

Now that the public has spoken recently about their desire to not have the carousel located downtown in Crazy Woman Square, and now that Olin Turner, President of the Buffalo Development Association, has submitted his resignation, the question that rises to the top is, “What next?”

Olin Turner, President of the BDA until March 1 anyway, was asked what the organization will do now that their focus has shifted slightly. He expalins that even though he is stepping down, the BDA is in good hands.

Turner said the Crazy Woman Square plan is still moving ahead, just not with the carousel in the design. The BDA will continue to help with downtown development.

Turner said there are a number of possible locations where the carousel might be located in the future, but that is not the main focus of the BDA right now. He said continuing the downtown development plan adopted by the city a number of years ago is where they will focus their efforts in the near future. He gave some examples of projects they will be helping to make a reality.

Their job, he said, is to help economic development for downtown in general, and that will be the focus of their efforts, while still looking for a place in Buffalo's future for the historic carousel.
