Buffalo Council Passes 2020 Budget on First Reading

Buffalo's City Council introduced and passed on first reading the Ordinance adopting the annual appropriation, or budget, for the coming 2020 fiscal year.

Mayor Shane Schrader read Ordinance No. 1400, which specifies the nearly $14 million appropriation for the city's needs for the coming year.

The appropriation included $795,000 for general city funds; $1.95 million for protective services; $1.65 million for streets; $284,000 for recreation; $1.3 million for water; $624,000 for wastewater; $552,000 for sanitation; $307,000 for miscellaneous equipment;$5.3 million for capital improvements; and $496,000 for outside agencies and city affiliates.

The Ordinance will have two more readings by the council before it will be adopted.
