Buffalo Council OK's Grant Apps To County Rec Board

Resolution No. 1338 was approved by the Buffalo City Council Tuesday evening, allowing the mayor and council to file four grant applications to the Johnson County Rec Board to purchase an addition to the existing skate park, chemicals for the outdoor pool, playground equipment for the Greenleaf Addition city park, and equipment for the as-yet built sports fields complex.

After an introduction and explanation of the Resolution by City Planner Zach Montgomery, he explained that Bill Cooley, with the Buffalo Trails Board, wanted the council to amend the Resolution to include funding for the trails board.

Cooley explains further.

Cooley said over the last few years the trails board has changed from a hands-on group to more of an administrative body, with more of their members younger, working jobs and not having a lot of time to give to maintaining the trail system in and around Buffalo.

This new position would be a seasonal, part-time position, suitable for a college student home for the summer, as an example.
