Buffalo Council Awards Contracts for Tennis Courts

The Buffalo City Council awarded the contracts for the new tennis courts that will be constructed in Washington Park this summer to Renner Sports Surfaces of Denver, and City Electric in Buffalo.

City Works Director Les Hook told the council that the bids were opened last week and the lowest bidders were Renner and City Electric. Hook explains further.

Renner received the award of $101,500 for the actual courts, equipment such as nets and for fencing around the courts. City Electric's award was for lights for the new facility in the amount of $26,239.

Funding for the project, according to Mayor Randy Dyess, came from the Rec Board for $87,000 and the remainder coming from a contribution from an anonymous entity. The total cost of the project is $127,739.

Hook will now enter into contract negotiations with the bidders and construction is expected to begin this spring and be completed in July of this year.
