Buffalo Council Approves Temporary Water Line

Buffalo Council Approves Temporary Water Line

The Buffalo City Council, at last week's meeting, approved the use of a temporary water line for dust abatement at a rock quarry north of the fairgrounds.

Ararat Rock Products of Buffalo, approached City Works Director Les Hook with the request.

Hook said the company has a portable rock crusher they will be using and need water for dust control. They wish to run the line from a fire hydrant on a water line in the fairgrounds to the quarry, located directly north of the county-owned property. They received approval from the county, with a number of caveats to the agreement. Hook explains.

The company will pay double the regular amount for water and a meter will be installed at the hydrant to keep track of their use.

The council agreed to allow the water sale and use, with the meter installation and if the company was agreeable to shut down and remove the line during fair and rodeo week and during any other functions at the fairgrounds.
