Buffalo Council Approves Rec Board Grant Applications

Buffalo Council Approves Rec Board Grant Applications

The Buffalo City Council approved the city's grant applications to the Johnson County Recreation Board, at their meeting Tuesday.

Public Works Director Les Hook explained to the council what the city was going after funding for.

As the city does every year, they are applying for a $25,199.08 grant for the chemicals at the outdoor pool.

Secondly, they are asking for just under $14,000 to purchase picnic tables and two grills that will be located at the new picnic shelters near the pool.

The third application will be for the Sports Fields Complex, and Hook explains further.

And the Buffalo Trails Board is seeking funds to continue their part-time handyman to work on the trails system through the summer; they are also asking for funds to continue improving the Mentock Trail and extending it into Mosier Gulch west of Buffalo; and they are seeking a grant for planning of that project.

The council approved the grant applications to the Rec Board on a 4-1 vote, with Councilman Dave Long voting against.
