Buffalo Council Approves Grant, New Sgt. For BPD

A request for the Buffalo Police Department to accept a grant for the purchase of radios and requests for appointment of a new sergeant for the Police Department were approved by the city council at their last meeting December 20.
Acting Police Chief Jason Carder explains.
Also approved was Carder's request to promote Officer Garth Nicholas to Sergeant with a pay increase of $200 per month effective January 1, 2012.
Lieutenant Andy Tkatch will also be moved from a salaried to an hourly position and will be put back into the shift rotation, according to Carder.
Finally, he requested approval of a bonus for certification for all officers which was also approved.
