Buffalo Council Approves Grant Application...Again

Buffalo's City Council passed for a second time a grant application to the State Loans and Investments Board for a city capital construction project.

Mayor Mike Johnson explained why the council needed to go through the motions a second time.

The grant, if approved by the SLIB, will gain the city 75% of the roughly $466,000 cost for an upgrade to a sewer lift station east of town near the Deer Park Campground.
The city will contribute the remaining 25% as the local funding match for the grant application.

City Works Director Les Hook explained in an earlier interview with Sheridan Media, that the lift station to be upgraded has been online since the mid-1980's, and the upgrade will consist of increasing the size of the pumps, installing a new backup generator, and a complete replacement of the control system to new digital technology, which he said will make the lift station “more dependable.”

The grant will be submitted to the SLIB's Federal Mineral Royalty Capital Construction Account for consideration.
