Buffalo Council Approves Change Order For School Project

At their last meeting the Buffalo City Council approved a change order on the Conrad/Walters Street Project at the new Cloud Peak School.

City Works Director Les Hook explained that during construction, they needed to dig nearly three feet of material away from an existing power pole for a sidewalk project and now must go back in and shore up the area around the power pole. Also, they must stabilize the end of Conrad Street on the school property with large concrete retaining blocks and fill dirt to keep water from eroding material at the end of the street. The hope is to someday extend the street to South Main Street.

Hook explained more about the street project.

Hook said the change order for the Walters Street power pole will be $1,900 and the change order for the larger wall at the end of Conrad Street is for $6,200 for a total change order price of $8,100 and will change the contract for the entire project to $856,454.98, which the council approved.

Hook also explained that the contractor had requested a time extension of 20 days, which would push back substantial completion to the last week of July and final completion to the early August.
Hook asked the council for permission for the mayor to sign that change order when it is completed, which the council approved.
