Buffalo Chamber's Jarvis Awarded Regent Scholarship

Angela Jarvis, Director of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, was awarded the Regent Scholarship by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

In a news release dated Monday, the Institute for Organization Management announced that Jarvis was one of 21 recipients nationwide to receive the scholarship to continue with the professional development program.

Jarvis explains more about the scholarship and the program.

The scholarship will cover this year's costs to attend the program, and Jarvis said she will have to apply for more grants and/or scholarships to continue the program in her third and fourth years.

According to the news release, the Regent Scholarships recognize each recipient for their involvement in industry professional organizations, community service, and professional background.
Since its commencement in 1921, the Institute program has educated tens of thousands of association, chamber, and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members, and become strong business advocates.

Each of the Regent Scholarship recipients will attend one of Institute’s five sites in 2013. At the completion of the four-year curriculum, each of the recipients will receive the IOM graduate recognition, signifying completion of 96 hours of course instruction in non-profit management and their commitment to the industry. In addition, all credit hours earned through Institute may be applied toward the Certified Chamber Executive(CCE) or Certified Association Executive (CAE) industry certification.
