Buffalo Building Inspector Educates Contractors

As the City of Buffalo has been adopting new building code standards over the last few months, City Building Inspector Toby Rhoades has been holding meetings to give local contractors an opportunity to learn what regulations and standards have changed with the adoption of the IBC 2012 codes.

Rhoades said many contractors have attended the meetings and renewed their licenses for 2013.

Rhoades said he has sold 28 residential code books, six building code books and a number of contractor parking permits that allow them to park their trailers on city streets.

Rhoades also updated the council on the status of the new Cloud Peak School project, saying drywall is now being installed on inside walls of the third and fourth-grade wing.

Finally he said he has issued two building permits since the last meeting and informed the council that once contractors renew their licenses at the end of January, he will publish the full list of licensed contractors on the city's website.
