Buffalo Approves Delegation of Authority Document

Buffalo Approves Delegation of Authority Document

The Buffalo City Council at their meeting Tuesday, approved a Delegation of Authority Agreement in case of a major flood event in the county.

The agreement has now been approved and signed by Buffalo, Kaycee and Johnson County.

Buffalo Fire Chief Gomer Gammon has been named the Incident Commander in case of an event, and he explained to the council what the agreement is.

Now that the document has been drafted and accepted by the three entities, should a flood emergency situation occur, help from the State, the Federal Government or FEMA is much easier to request and response times should be faster, Gammon said.

The document is in place only for flooding, he said, but can be modified in the future and adopted for any number of emergency events, like fire, earthquake, tornado, volcanic activity, etc.
