Brinton Museum Hosts 5th Grade Art Show

The Brnton Museum just outside Big Horn again partners with local elementary schools to present the second annual All-Schools 5th Grade Student Art Show, featuring original art by fifth grade students from nine schools in Sheridan and Johnson counties.

The show will open in the museum's Jacomien Mars Reception Gallery on Feb. 9, and a reception will be held for the artists starting at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 10. The reception is open free to the public. Art will be on exhibit through Feb. 17, and the show is free for students and teachers.

Museum Director Kenneth Schuster said the show offers fifth graders the unique opportunity to showcase their artistic talents in a professional museum setting, and share their classroom art projects with the public. He said the event gives students the chance to experience first-hand how a fine art museum functions as a valuable resource to the community, and that museums are a great place to see great art. Museum hours for the show are noon til 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:30 a.m. til 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
